DEMO: Come see James give a demonstration during our November 10th meeting.

• Everyone will initially work from provided source material

• SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to advanced. Not for beginners

• Sketch to painting

James will be using watercolor but participants can use either watercolor or acrylic.
Each artist should bring the media they want to work in Watercolor or Acrylics.
Paint sets should include at minimum: black, white, yellow, red and blue (Primary System). Beginners can buy inexpensive sets. Also watercolor or acrylic brushes in wide flat (1-1/2 inches) and 3 small to large round brushes with points. Sketch books to draw and pencils and erasers.

DAY ONE MORNING

We will go through the basics of portraits. The first morning will be blocking and composing then cover the set up of the features. The artists will have standard template drawings to trace from. We will get into your personal portraits the afternoon of day two.

DAY ONE AFTERNOON

We will talk about color and its use in watercolor or acrylics, layering, and use of colors to help enhance the natural look of the face. We will then trace the drawings and apply color techniques and get used to using water and its flow. Shading, toning, and detailing.

DAY TWO MORNING

Continue to finish the watercolor/acrylic portraits and then talk about other tools and media that can help you, or add to creativity of your projects! Watercolor pencils, bigger brushes, erasers and erasing. Other media that can help you make a painting all your own.

DAY TWO AFTERNOON
If you have a portrait you personally want to do, I will help you set it up and show you how to get started. If you bring photos, please have them enlarged in hard copy. Please make sure the person’s face is at least 4 to 5 inches tall, so we can see all the features.

SUPPLIES:
