DAY 1
Drawing in the morning.
Black and white painting in the afternoon.
Day 1 will be focused mainly on drawing the self portrait. The drawings will be done in ballpoint pen on paper. Instructor is encouraging participants to bring a pad of Bristol paper and a drawing board with 3 to 4 clips to hold the paper. He will provide the ballpoint pens.
PARTICIPANTS WILL NEED TO BRING FOR DAY 1:
• You can draw and paint family, friends or self portraits but will need to work from images you have taken...not just pictures of a random person out of a magazine.
• Participants will also need to bring a small tube of BLACK acrylic paint. Most brands will work fine, but suggests either Liquitex or Golden. Windsor & Newton is also good and student or basic grade will work fine for workshop purposes.
• Along with the paint, participants will also need a cup for water, at least three sizes of brushes, and a plate or something similar to act as a Palette.
• Table or freestanding easels are suggested but not required.
DAY 2
Painting with COLOR and building on the principals from Day 1.
On the second day, you will be exclusively painting the portrait in acrylic paint.
Participants can paint on paper or canvas. If they’re painting on paper, they will need a drawing board and clips, or frog tape. Instructor's preference for paintings done on paper is for participants to tape their paper down to the drawing board.
PARTICIPANTS WILL NEED TO ADD THESE FOR DAY TWO:
• Participants are encouraged to bring a variety of colors for the second day, including skin tones. At a minimum, everyone will need red, yellow, and blue, black, white, and brown.
