WHO WE ARE
For over 50 years the Lake Granbury Art Association has enriched the lives of its members and the community. What began as a small group of artists whose desire was to gather, encourage and grow as artists has grown to be all that and more. The LGAA has been instrumental in Granbury becoming an art tourist destination, as the original still-operating art group of Hood County. Boasting several hundred members, the LGAA has become a cultural force in central north-central Texas and beyond.

Finding their home in the 1886 historic Shanely House, the space allows LGAA to have both studio space and a gallery. The docent operated gallery is open Thursday through Sunday where locals and visitors may see the art displays that change throughout the year.  LGAA meets monthly on the second Monday of the month to see an artist demonstration, bounce ideas off one another and attend to the business of the group. Monthly workshops are hosted by the LGAA at the Shanley House. These workshops bring in professional artists who are top in their field.

For over twenty years the Monday Morning Portrait Group has been drawing members of the community and donating their drawings to the clothed models. Classes take place in the Shanley weekly and the popular “First Friday Feedback” event offers artists an opportunity to receive constructive criticism on their works in progress. LGAA’s Summer Art Camp program is a much-anticipated program. Operating for decades now, many parents now bring their children to a program they themselves attended in childhood. The Spring membership Show of the LGAA is an opportunity for the members to display and sell their work. With over $4,000 in prize money, The Fall Art Show has become a respected juried event that draws artists and art patrons from across the nation.

Over 5,000 entries in the guest book yearly attest to the popularity of the gallery and studio. With the next door locale of the Shanley Sculpture Garden and the Hood County Library, the trolley stop at the Shanley and the “off the square” location, growth in visitors is sure to continue. LGAA is a 501 3 (c) not for profit organization run by volunteers who believe in the power of creativity and the impact it has on the community as a whole. Thank you for joining us in this vision.

2024 “THE FALL SHOW” STATS & COMMUNITY ECONOMIC IMPACT
Our 2024 show garnered 361 entries from 23 states, there were 77 pieces of art included with 67 artists represented.

25% were local artists
75% were other Texas cities or out of state
11 states were represented

Many of the artists came to Granbury three separate times. Once to drop off their work, again for the reception and a third time to pick up any unsold pieces. Dozens and dozens of rooms were reserved for the fall show. Show artists and their following naturally explored, dined out and shopped making an additional economic impact.

WHAT YOU GET AS A SPONSOR
The rewarding knowledge that your support of LGAA means supporting a non-profit whose goal is
to engage the community and spread the beauty and joy that art brings to everyone. Art truly is a
necessity or as we in LGAA like to say, “Life is art and art is life.” Your support of our organization will not go unnoticed by the community. City officials and other local organizations like the Granbury Fine
Arts Council and the Granbury Cultural Arts Commission have and LGAA gone to great lengths to gain grants and acquire the Cultural Arts District Designation. You can be a part of this. Please review our sponsorship form. It explains various levels of sponsorships and the benefits that come with each. We hope you choose to support our organization. We would love to see you at the reception for The Fall Art Show planned for September 20th, as well as all of our events throughout the year.
