August 18, from 9 am to 4 pm
Local Artist/Instructor Kathy Yoders will be teaching a basic charcoal portrait drawing workshop on August 18, from 9 am to 4 pm at the Shanley House Center for the Arts Gallery located at 224 N. Travis St. Sponsored by the Lake Granbury Art Association, this is a $50 workshop that is open to the public, beginners and advanced artists are welcome. Seating is limited, so contact Kathy Yoders at 817-579-5075 or firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your reservation and get your supply list. The fee helps to fund the nonprofit LGAA.
This workshop will teach you how to map and measure the face to achieve a good likeness. Once you have learned the basic techniques of drawing portraits, Yoders will teach you how to use pastels to color your drawings. For those who have previously taken a portrait class from Yoders, she will instruct you on how to raise your skills to the next level. You will learn how to make adjustments and corrections to your drawings for great results. Once you have learned the steps of mapping out the portrait, it is just a matter of practicing those techniques. Yoders states “If anyone interested in drawing would just practice drawing 10 minutes a day, their skills would increase in no time. If you have the desire to be creative you will be surprised how much joy you can experience from the art of drawing. Portraits are hard but they are the most rewarding form of art to me. I hope you will try it!”
