Our program for the night will be “Putting your art to work,” which translates to getting those photos off of the computer and into the world where you and others can enjoy them. And hopefully pay you for them! There is a world of opportunities out there.
First, please bring information to share, such as your favorite site for ordering prints, a good place for framing, the name of a company that prints books, etc. We would also like to know about workshops, online education, blogs and more — anything that enables photographers to do their work well. Let’s share!
Next, we will have 2-3 speakers to inspire you. They will give short presentations about exhibiting in juried shows, selling photos for stock and creating a book. Suz Frost Waldron, a Camera Club member, is a homebuilder by trade, but loves to take pictures wherever she goes. She is a contributing photographer to four stock photo websites and has sold well over 1,000 photos!
Rebecca McWaters is the Artist Market Director for Clayton Mountain Artfest, which is slated for May 19 – 21, 2017. This large juried event is held an hour west of Fort Worth at a 5,000-acre ranch facility. She will introduce us to the intricacies of this type of large art outdoor event, which promises to give participating artists wide exposure to an appreciative, buying audience. (This year’s event has a March 10 entry. If you are interested in applying, email RebeccaMcWatters@gmail.com
Cissy Wilson, a Camera Club member, is tentatively slated to tell us about her success in publishing a beautiful photo book — and selling copies! Her story is about how this book came into being is fascinating.
Prepare to be inspired! Join us on March 14!
