Jerry Griffin - LGAA Granbury Visitor's Bureau Featured Artist for March
LGAA Granbury Visitor's Bureau Featured Artist for March
Advertising art was the focus of Jerry’s life for 44 years. After earning a BFA from the University of Texas where he studied oil and acrylic painting, he started The Griffin Group, a marketing, advertising and public relations firm in Lubbock, Texas. Mitsubishi Aircraft International was a client and Jerry’s illustrations of their MU-2 business prop jet were used in ads and collateral material. After retiring, Jerry and his wife, June, moved to Granbury. Here he met fellow artist, Jeanette Alexander and asked her to mentor him in pastels. He says, “My fellow members of the Lake Granbury Art Association have been a major source of encouragement over past 12 years.”
Painting portraits of family members is one subject that brings him immense joy. He says, “I want to capture the blossoming of my grandchildren. My reward is to see their parents’ excitement when they receive a painting.” A close second is capturing the landscapes from photographs of his travels. Make a point to stop by the Visitor’s Bureau on the square to see Jerry’s lovely pastel work.
The Visitor's Bureau is located at the East end of City Hall.
