Collette Jones Award

A long time member of the LGAA, Collette was a talented artist who had many friends among our members. She recently lost her battle with cancer and to honor her, the LGAA will be accepting donations for the Collette Jones Award which will be given during our Fall Juried Show. Donations can be made during the August, September and October meetings. Checks should be payable to the LGAA with a notation that they are for the Collette Jones Award. If you are not an LGAA member or cannot attend the meetings and wish to make a contribution, please mail check to: Shanley House Gallery P.O. Box 1855 Granbury, TX 76048.

In addition, July's Last Saturday Gallery Night will be dedicated to the memory of Collette Jones and of art patron, Jeanelle Morris.

The July 18th Hood County News remembers 2 Granbury women that made great impacts in our city. Jeanell Morris, ardent art patron, former Hood County librarian and former City Council member. Collette Jones, long time LGAA member and co-founder of the prestigious Rio Brazos Art Exhibition. Both recently lost their battle with cancer. We send out our heartfelt condolences to their friends and families. Know we are deeply impacted by this loss as well.

The words of anthropologist Margaret Mead describe these two remarkable women. “Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.” Indeed.
